Understanding Trauma: Yoga for Recovery, Restoration, Reintegration, Resilience

The holistic healing that comes from a regular yoga practice can be profound. Subsequently, the body of research in the yoga arena continued to grow exponentially; the field is now looking at yoga as a therapeutic modality and yoga in our communities. Accordingly, the most dedicated yoga teachers and healthcare professionals need additional trauma-based training, or resilience training, to adequately serve within these areas. Thus, Jai Yoga Integrative Therapy and Yoga2Sleep have collaborated to offer a comprehensive Resilience Yoga Therapy Training for Yoga Teachers like no other. Understanding Trauma: Yoga for Recovery, Restoration, Reintegration, Resilience is the result of this collaborative effort and will broadly cover aspects of trauma with its basic understanding, along with how to work with and approach affected populations.

This 18-hour training program is for yoga teachers, health and wellness practitioners and healthcare professionals. Participants will need a foundation in yoga. Yoga Alliance continuing education credits are available.

The Resilience Yoga Therapy Training for Yoga Teachers will cover:

  • PTSD (including combat trauma, secondary, intergenerational PTSD)
  • sexual trauma (including MST)
  • moral injury
  • childhood trauma
  • sexual trauma
  • terrorism/community violence
  • domestic violence
  • school violence
  • socio-economic trauma and cultural competency
  • traumatic loss and grief
  • natural disaster or catastrophe

Understanding Trauma: Yoga for Recovery, Restoration, Reintegration, Resilience will be held at the White Lotus Wellness Center, 4912 Berwyn Road, College Park, MD 20740 on Friday October 6, 2017 from 6pm – 9pm, Saturday, October 7 from 9am – 5pm and Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 9am – 5pm. The cost is $380 early bird (paid before Friday, September 15th, 2017), $395 thereafter.

Christine Marcella, E-RYT500

Christine is an Integrative Therapist and holistic healer who is certified in yoga, meditation and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). After 13 years living overseas and teaching in military environments she returned to the states and founded the San Antonio Texas Yoga Association, the SATYA School of Yoga and opened Jai Yoga Integrative Therapy where she focused on helping clients with trauma, PTSD, addiction, and anxiety disorders. She is a graduate of Sri Shambhavananda and an alumni of the Shambhava Ashram at Konalani on the big island of Hawaii. After more than 35 years of practice and dedicated study all over the world, including the International Buddhist Center at Prathat Doi Suthep in Thailand, she has become an experienced professional with immense desire to share the path of mindfulness.

Pamela Stokes Eggleston, MBA, E-RYT

Pamela is a certified yoga and meditation instructor. She has practiced yoga for over 16 years and completed specialized training to include certifications in plant-based nutrition, stress management, yoga therapy and yoga for trauma in veterans and the military. Her meditations are spotlighted on Meditation Studio and Insight Timer. Founder of Yoga2Sleep, Pamela helps her clients combat insomnia by using her specialized training: she is a HeartMath coach and a sleep coach, focusing on mental, spiritual and emotional stress through a heart-centered approach. Additionally, she is a Contributing Editor of Best Practices for Yoga with Veterans (YSC/Omega Books, November 2016).
